Passover: An Appointed Time of the Lord

Pastor Kent Mattox explains why we celebrate Passover at WAIO

Passover is a historical event that commemorates Israel’s departure from Egypt after more than 400 years of slavery. It’s also one of the three “Appointed Times of the Lord.” Deuteronomy records that God’s people were instructed to gather together before him three times a year—during the feasts of Passover, Pentecost and Tabernacles—and they were promised to leave with a blessing.

In Genesis 1:14 God said he set the stars, the sun and the moon in place as moadim, or appointed times. If we come before the Lord with the right heart and the right attitude, we will gain a spiritual momentum that will literally cause us to “pass over” anything that is hindering us from fulfilling our God-given purpose and destiny.

This is the time of year when we break out of old cycles and break into new ones. It is the season of redemption. Jesus is our Passover lamb, and that is why we celebrate the feast of Passover. We hope you will join us for our Passover Sunday Service on April 17 at 11 a.m. CST.
